I think what’s great about seeing a lot of these newer bands is hearing the various influences. As of writing this, I am in the middle of doing it a Decade Review for David Bowie and since there is an upcoming Cobalt Presents show, I thought would better way than to spotlight this next band. The band on the chopping block is Witkin and they recently released their latest album in October 2025. Let’s take a look………
Now for those that have read or been keeping up with what I’ve been writing yes, I have written about this album before, and it was included in a mixed bag review (number 12 I believe). But as I stated earlier, I am in the middle of reviewing David Bowie so I thought I’d give this album another listen. Now the main person of this band is Veronica Witkin and you absolutely can hear the David Bowie influences (particularly 70s era with a little bit of the 80s). I do remember seeing her for the first time and there was something going on with her band and rather than canceling her performance she showed up with an acoustic guitar and just played her songs. Now I’ve said it many times before I am not a fan of acoustic material. Like seriously I honestly cannot stand most of it. Stuff like that is derivative boring and it’s pretty much all the same subject matter. However, her performance was not like that at all in fact, I actually quite enjoyed it. But that said, the album is a great combination of early. Bowie meets that band. T-Rex meets alternative rock. Now on the streaming service that I use there are about three other singles that are not on this album. Those being “Fingertips,” “See How The Night Will End,” and a great cover of Iggy Pop’s “I Wanna Be Your God.” Definitely give the album Things I Might’ve Said a listen.
