Ratt

Up next on the chopping block is another band from the 80’s glam scene. Now I’ve pretty much only heard like maybe one or two songs but the band on the block is Ratt. Like I said, I only really know only their hits so I’m curious as to how the rest of their albums sound. So let’s take a look…..

Out Of The Cellar- so this is the album that gave us their hits like Round And Round and Wanted Man. Aside from those songs, the album is pretty good and definitely sounds like an 80’s album but I’ve  gotta say, the guitar work is pretty awesome. I’ll give this one 8.5/10

Standouts: You’re In Trouble, She Wants Money, The Morning After

Invasion Of Your Privacy- so this one continues basically where they left off but there’s almost a groove to this one. It does seem to be a bit tighter and there’s kind of an Aerosmith vibe to it. Either way, this is a really fun album and again great guitar work. I’ll give this another 9/10

Standouts: Give It All, Never Use Love, Got Me On The Line

Dancin’ Undercover- I do feel as if this is kinda more of the same but that said, this is still a good album. I will say thought that this one does seem a bit more polished in terms of production.  I feel like this could be one of their overlooked albums and I’ll give it an 8/10

Standouts: Drive Me Crazy, Looking For Love, Take A Chance

Reach For The Sky- not sure what it is about this one. I feel like it’s lacking something. Can’t really explain it but it just isn’t quite as strong as their other albums. Is it a bad album? No not at all but it’s good not great. I’ll give this one a 7/10

Standouts: City To City, Don’t Bite The Hand That Feeds, Chain Reaction

Detonator- there’s definitely a 90’s feel to this album and almost a heaviness that wasn’t on the other albums before it. This one is notable because it has their only power ballad which until now they really didn’t have. I actually enjoyed this one more than I would’ve thought and I’ll give it an 8/10

Standouts: Scratch That Itch, Givin’ Yourself Away, Hard Time

1999(Ratt)- so this one is definitely a departure from what they’ve done.  This 8s more of a hard rock and blues sounding album and I was actually pleasantly surprised with this one. I definitely recommend this as I feel like maybe this one doesn’t get mentioned enough with this band (or maybe it does I don’t know). I’ll give this one 9.5/10

Standouts: Over The Edge, Breakout, All The Way

Infestation- so this one came out in 2010 and the last album came out in 1999 so when there’s a long gap between albums, it could go either way and I must say, that this one is pretty damn good. It’s not really a glam sounding album and if you want to hear what 2010 Ratt sounds like, then I think you will like this. Again the guitar work is great and they are dialed in and sounding great. I’ll give this one a 9/10

Overall, this is a band with some really fun records and if you can get past the whole hair metal look and just listen to the music, then it’s actually a great listen. These are some fun albums and sure some do sound alike but they are good albums. Certainly better than some of their peers from that era.
