Vision Of Disorder

So I know it’s been awhile since my last review but you know life gets in the way. So this review is a band that I had only heard of but never really listened to. This is also another request and the band on the chopping block is Vision Of Disorder. So let’s take a look……….

Vision Of Disorder- well I guess if you look at the last metalcore band that I reviewed (Converge) and this, they are vastly different. This to me is what a metalcore album should sound like. Now this was made in the mid to late 90’s I believe and honestly, you can tell. The production is not as bad as early punk or hardcore albums but there is a rawness about this that makes it awesome. The vocals do tend to be a little draggy at times but those moments are far and few. I give this 9/10. Great start

Standouts: Element, Liberation, Excess

Imprint- this one seems to be a bit more aggressive than the last record. It’s also a better sounding record in terms of production. The singer also has a Mark Hunter (Chimaira) kinda sound going for him too. He goes from clean vocals to not so clean vocals really well. Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to this record. Like this is what I would call a metalcore record. I give it 10/10

Standouts: What You Are, By The River, Locust Of The Dead Earth

For The Bleeders- man this band was busy. The last record was released a year before this one. I will say that releasing records so close is tricky. Sometimes it can seem like a band is just releasing an album full of B-Sides (case in point System Of A Down). Now this doesn’t feel like a B-Sides record but I would’ve rather them wait a couple years and make a better album. And that’s not to say that this is a bad record but it’s not as good as the last one. I give this 8/10

Standouts: Choke, Adelaide, N Regret

From Bliss To Devastation- see when it comes to this album, I love the guitar riffs on here but this doesn’t really feel like a metalcore album but more of a hard rock album. Like the aggression is there but it feels a bit tame. I don’t know. I was expecting more. For one thing, the vocalist does a lot more clean singing and it kind of has a Drowning Pool feel to it. One thing to note is that this record was made right before they broke up in 2001. I give this 5/10

Standouts: From Bliss To Devastation, Downtime Misery

The Cursed Remain Cursed- So this is the first record in 11 years and well for a band that has been away that long, it’s not bad. It’s certainly a lot better than Bliss that’s for sure. It has a For The Bleeders feel to it and this seems to have more melody and groove to it. I give this 9/10

Standouts: Set To Fail, Hard Times, Annihilator

Razed To The Ground- so this is one of those times where you could listen to this one and the last one back to back and it would feel like you were listening to one long record. This one again has more melodic songs to it and while I think that’s all good and fine, I miss their old sound where it was just straight up aggression. Do I think this is as strong as the last record? No but this is definitely worth a listen. I give it 7.5/10

Standouts: Hours In Chaos, Electric Sky, Razed To The Ground

All in all, this is a great band and it’s too bad that these guys are so overlooked. I swear though on those early records, the singer has a Mark Hunter thing going on. Anyway, I would definitely like to see these guys live. I’ll bet their shows are a lot of fun.
