Whenever The Warning put out their new album, it’s going to be interesting to hear all the songs in order. Currently, they’ve released two with a third one set to premier very shortly. Since the last time I saw them, they played both new songs and today we’re taking a look at the latest “Ego.” With that, let’s take a look……
One thing I do have to say about this band is they don’t stick to one formula. They try to go in different directions while maintaining their hard rock and Mexican roots. As I said earlier, they’ve released two brand new songs and have premiered both live. Now since they are from Mexico, this is one of their songs that is in Spanish. Even if you don’t speak that language just the music itself will get you moving. “Ego” while in Spanish is about transforming external criticism into motivation. The lyrics are a reflection of a journey of overcoming skepticism and asserting ones’s identity as well as emphasizing the importance of self confidence in the face of adversity.
Any song where Pau (drums/vocals) and Dany (guitar/vocals) share vocal duties you know you’re in for a treat. Of course while the studio version is great, live it’s just a whole different experience. If you’ve ever seen this band live, then you know that anytime Dany busts out the Fender strat, they’re about to play something in the heavy rock range. This is absolutely a perfect anthemic song and makes me really excited for what they have to offer next. I have no doubt that this will remain a live staple for a long time.
