Bleeding Through

So I guess I’m reminiscing about the early 2000’s.  There was something special about going to festivals like Ozzfest and Warped Tour. That being said, the next band on the chopping block is the band Bleeding Through. Now I never really heard much of these guys and this one was a request so let’s take a look……….

Dust To Ashes- now I would say that this sounds like any other metalcore record at the time but it doesn’t.  You can tell these guys are highly influenced by the Gothenburg sound and there are elements of symphonic black metal. It’s definitely one of the more interesting debut albums. Sadly it’s on YouTube so if you want to listen to it online go there. Anyway, like I said it’s a unique record so I’ll give it 8.5/10

Standouts: Turns Cold To The Touch, Shadow Walker, Thrones Of Agony

Portrait Of The Goddess- vocally you can understand him a little better. There are still those Gothenburg elements and this sounds a lot like the first album. Personally I prefer the last one a little more but this is a good follow up. I’ll give it an 8/10

Standouts: Rise, Wake Of Orion, Insomniac

This Is Love, This Is Murderous- I do remember the song Love Lost In A Hail Of Gunfire from the MTV Headbanger’s Ball cd. This one feels a lot more cohesive and I feel like they’ve found their groove. I can see why this one was so well received. I’ll give it 9/10

Standouts: Number Seven Whit A Bullit, Murder By Numbers, On Wings Of Lead

The Complete Truth- yes there are parts that are faster but for some reason I couldn’t get into this one as much.  Could be there is too much clean vocals in some songs but I just didn’t enjoy this one quite as much. Overall, it’s not bad but maybe not as strong as the previous effort. I mean give it a listen and you might like it better than I did. I’ll give this one 7/10

Standouts: The Pain Killer, She’s Gone, 13 Scars

Declaration- I feel like this one is a combination of the last two records. I also think this one is definitely a step up from the last record. This one also feels more aggressive than the last one too. I’ll give this one 9/10

Standouts: Germany, Reborn From Isolation, Declaration

Bleeding Through-   I feel like for this one they had to have been listening to a lot of the band Dimmu Borgir. Like when the keyboards kick in on the songs, I get those kind of vibes. To me that’s very different for a metalcore band to do that. This record does have some hits and misses but overall, a pretty good record. I’ll give this one 8/10

Standouts: Your Abandonment, Salvation Never Found, Slow Your Roll

The Great Fire- I feel like this is a combination of their older stuff with some of the new stuff. It’s a bit more thrashy and has that sound they had on Declaration. It is also notable that this would be their last album for 6 years. Overall, not bad and this one gets an 8/10

Standouts: Faith In Fire, Step Back In Line, Entrenched

Love Will Kill All- so this one is their first album in 6 years and how is it? Well there is certainly a lot more clean vocals on here and after awhile it gets kind of boring. If you’re going to make a comeback album then it should come out the gate fast and furious. Overall, this one is just ok and I can see they wanted to do something different but to me it’s just ok. I’ll give this one 6/10

Standouts: Dead Eyes, No Friends, Slave

Of those metalcore bands from the early 2000’s, this one I would say is the most unique. You don’t see a lot of these bands with keyboards so that’s different for sure. Now they are releasing new music because there is already one song out called Rage and it so far sounds pretty good so,it’ll be interesting to hear what the rest of the album sounds like.

Final Grade: B
