Disturbed

Up next on the chopping block is another band that I’ve seen at festivals like Mayhem, Aftershock, and Ozzfest. The band I am talking about is Disturbed and the are what I would call a gateway metal band meaning if you want to get into metal but don’t really know where to start then give them a listen. Now I really only know their first album and a few other songs so let’s take a look…….

The Sickness- so obviously, the song that should come to mind with this album is the song Down With The Sickness. I do remember pirating this whole album back in the Limewire days so listening to this one again definitely brought me down memory lane. I’ll give this one 8.5/10

Standouts: Fear, Want, Voices

Believe- there’s just something about this one that seems more cohesive. It’s a step up from the last one and they seem to be more dialed in. The production seems sharper and I actually found myself enjoying this one more than I would’ve thought. I’ll give this one 9.5/10

Standouts: Rise, Liberate, Awaken

Ten Thousand Fists- I feel like this album has a lot going on. It’s got some hard rock, metal, and nu metal elements going on all work really well on here. I do remember seeing ads for this record on Fuse as well as the video for their cover of Land Of Confusion (which is a better cover than when In Flames covered it). Overall, definitely a record worthy of a listen and I’ll give it a 10/10

Standouts: Deify, Stricken, Forgiven

Indestructible- this one pretty much abandons the Nu metalness that was on the previous albums and goes for a more straightforward rock and metal sound. It’s certainly a more darker album but overall, I found this one to be just ok. I’ll give it 7/10

Standouts: Perfect Insanity, Indestructible, Façade

Asylum- there’s just something about this album that feels like they’ve finally found something that works. It’s an album that definitely steps things up from the last album and this one is actually pretty damn heavy compared to the last album. To me this album is actually less of a metal album and more of a hard rock album. I’ll give this one 10/10

Standouts: Crucified, Asylum, The Infection

Immortalized- I sort of feel as if this one picks up where the previous album left off. The thing is that this one isn’t quite as good as the last one. It’s sort of whatever. One thing to note is that this is the album that gave us that Sound Of Silence cover whip is a great cover. Overall, this one’s kinda forgettable. I’ll give it a 7/10

Standouts: The Vengeful One, The Light, Who Taught You How To Hate

Evolution- this one has more acoustic songs and more ballads but still has songs that are more in line with what they’ve done on the previous albums. Basically, this album has a lot going on. I am not the biggest fan of acoustic songs and I gotta give props to them for trying to branch out. I’ll give this one 7/10

Standouts- No More, In Another Time, The Best Ones Lie

Divisive- admittedly this one is more on the heavier side of things but overall, I found this one to be just ok. It’s a good album don’t get me wrong but it’s not great. I’ll give this one 8/10

Standouts: Hey You, Feeding The Fire, Part Of Me

This is a band that I feel does get some hate simply due to the fact that they get put on festivals with bands like Slayer or Exodus but they actually are a really good band.  As I stated in my introduction, they are a gateway metal band and if you want to get into metal, then they are definitely a good choice to start. Live they are really good too. David Draiman is one of those singers with an amazing void and range.
