Sum 41

Up next on the chopping block is Sum 41. This is a band that was big when I was in high school and I always thought that they were pretty fun to listen to so let’s take a look…..

All Killer No Filler- ah the album that gave us that song Fat Lip. I’m pretty sure if you don’t know the song by name you will when you hear it. Aside from that, the rest of the album is one of those albums that really isn’t anything special but a fun listen. I’ll give it 8/10

Standouts: Nothing On My Back, Motivation, Crazy Amanda Bunkface

Does This Look Infected?- again, like that last album, this is just one of those albums that you can put on and not really think about it. The songs are short but sweet and overall, it’s pretty damn good. I’ll give it 9/10

Standouts: My Direction, Over My Head (Better Off Dead), All Messed Up

Chuck- this one feels like they are going in a more mature direction. There are some slower songs but a good amount of faster songs and there’s a pop punk meets metal sound going on here. I’ll give this one 8/10

Standouts: No Reason, Some Say, Angels With Dirty Faces

Underclass Hero- this one goes back to the pop punk tone that was on the first two albums.  There are however some songs with acoustic guitar and even some with synthesizer parts. Definitely a little different than before and it gets 7/10

Standouts: Walking Disaster, March Of The Dogs, Underclass Hero

Screaming Bloody Murder- this one feels more like a rock album. Sure there are hints of the pop punk stuff but it’s less of that and more rock oriented. Again you can tell they are trying to branch out (or so it would seem). I’ll give this one 6/10

Standouts: Jessica Kill, Sick Of Everyone

13 Voices- if you wanted a radio friendly pop punk meets metal record than look no further than this one. I do appreciate them trying to go for a harder sound. It certainly shows they are trying to evolve as a band however, I found there to be more filler on here. Overall, not a bad record just (again) different. I’ll give this one 6/10

Standouts: Fake My Own Death, Goddamn I’m Dead Again

Order In Decline- I found this one to be more on the boring side. The album cover is kind of cool and the songs have potential but fall kind of flat. I’m sure there are plenty of Sum 41 fans that might enjoy this one but overall, it wasn’t very good. I’ll give this one 3/10

Standouts:

Heaven :x: Hell- again the songs on here start off ok but just are kind of whatever. As I said with the last album, I’m sure there are those that enjoy this one, but overall, this one is a swing and a miss. I’ll give this one 5/10

Standouts: Waiting On A Twist Of Fate

This actually is a pretty fun band to listen to especially the first couple albums. I will give them props for trying to venture out and try new things as I think more bands should do that. Live they are also pretty fun and I’m kinda sorry I missed their last tour. Oh well glad I saw them when I did.
