For this Forgotten Classic, we’re gonna hop in the Time Machine back to 1996 (sixth grade for me)!! And we’re gonna be taking a look at the song “In The Meantime” by the band Spacehog. This is definitely one of those songs that reminds me of a simpler time so let’s take a look……….
This is absolutely one of those songs that when I listen to it reminds me of my early days of radio listening. This was one of those songs that I can remember when it came on the radio whether it was 96.7 The Buss, 97.5, or Y-107 I would always get excited to hear it. There’s just something that’s catchy and fun about this particular track and is absolutely one of those 90’s classics! Now according to singer Royston Langdon, it’s him trying to reach people. It’s the search for the acceptance of one’s self using some kind of metaphor be it worldly of inner-world. It’s also about him talking to himself to get through anxieties and basically saying things are going to be ok. All this does make the song a little bit more interesting and does give one some perspective about its meaning. Now recently, this song has seen a bit of a resurgence. It’s been featured in the movie and the trailer for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 as well as the 2009 film Fanboys and That 90’s Show.
