The Kickoff: The Warning- Dust To Dust

A little while ago, I did my very first The Closer for The Warning’s “The End (Stars Always Seem To Fade)” and while I love that song, I thought it would be silly if I didn’t take a look at the opening song “Dust To Dust.” Let’s take a look…..

So for those that are fans of this band, you obviously know that both of the aforementioned songs are off the album Queen Of The Murder Scene and in my opinion both are fantastic songs. One of the best parts of this song is this really cool bass intro which then just goes right into it.  Ale Villareal is one of those bass players where I’ll always enjoy listening to her bass lines. For someone that is as young as she is (she wrote her parts when she was 12), she really has a lot of groove, and her tone fits perfectly.  This is a very bass driven song and while yes in a lot of rock songs the bass tends to get hidden by the guitar this doesn’t really happen here. I think what also surprises a lot of people about this particular song is that Pau (drummer) is able to sing a majority of this song. She starts off singing the first part (fun fact, she runs on the treadmill and sings to build stamina) and then will immediately harmonize with Dany (guitar) and it’s something that works really really well. Both of their voices absolutely complement each other and I honestly can’t think of a perfect song to start a great album.
