OK, so it’s time for another Song Pick Of The Week and as we are counting down to number one this song is from Number 95 on my top 100. Number 95 is none other than Black Label Society. This is one of those bands that when I put them on, I forget how great they actually are and how bad ass Zakk Wylde is. So with that, let’s take a look…….
Song: All For You
Album: Stronger Than Death
Black Label Society is one of those bands that you know I don’t really have in as heavy rotation as I used to but they’ve got some killer albums. This is one of those bands that I kinda was having a hard time picking a song (I have a feeling that the further I go down my top 100 it’s going to get harder) so for this weeks song, Pick I’ve decided to go with a bit of an oddball/deep cut and go with something off of the second album Stronger Than Death (fun fact Zakk Wylde played everything except for drums and Mike Piazza does the death growls on one of the other songs). There’s first song All For You has always been one of my favorite songs from this band and I don’t know if it’s the way that this album was recorded or mixed or mastered or whatever but there’s just something different about Zakk’s vocals on here then on any of the other BLS albums. What I like about this song is that it has kinda like a gritty kind of dirty guitar tone and I love that about this band. This is definitely what I feel like is become a deep cut at this point, but I really wish they would play this song live. In fact, I wish they’d play more songs off of this album live because the album itself is just a bad ass metal record. There’s definitely an almost bouncy, guitar riff and a sort of groove to this song, which is another reason why it was my choice for song pick of the week Definitely check out this song and in fact, give the whole album a listen if you’ve never heard it or if it’s been a while.
