Song Pick Of The Week: Bad Religion- Sinister Rouge

In continuing with the countdown to the number 1 spot of my Top 100, we’ve arrived at number 77…..Bad Religion.  Bad Religion has always been my favorite punk band and they have so many albums. For this Song Pick Of The Week, I’m choosing the song “Sinister Rouge” off of The Empire Strikes First album.  Let’s take a look…….

What I’ve always liked about Bad Religion is that they have always been one of those bands that have never been afraid to get political. Now this song was released in 2004 and at the time, a lot of controversy was being brought to attention with the Catholic Church and from what I remember, it was on the news quite a bit.  The sinister part of the song title absolutely refers to the aforementioned activities by the church and the rouge part refers to the colors of the papal and cardinal dress as they often wore a red colored robe.  I remember seeing them playing this song the first time seeing them which was the 2004 Warped Tour. This is one of their shorter songs only clocking in at just under 2 minutes but man it is an absolute banger!!  Personally, The Empire Strikes First is one of my favorite Bad Religion albums and if it’s been awhile, give it another spin.
