Amen

What do you get when you combine hardcore punk and nu-metal?  Why you get the band Amen and they’re then next band on the Chopping Block.  Now I am not that familiar with their music and this one was a recommendation so let’s take a look……

Slave- this is kind of an interesting album. It’s kind of slow but has a bit of a punk edge to it.  It’s certainly a unique way of starting this deep dive and it’s almost like you can tell the aggression is there, but it just doesn’t want to be let out.  I’ll go ahead and give it 8/10.

Standouts: Bleed To Know, Monkey, Freak Down

Amen- well now this is one of those albums that most certainly steps it up!!  there’s just this anger and brutality that comes with this album and I am definitely here for it. This is definitely one of those records that you could put on full blast and just get in the car and go 80 miles an hour.  I’m gonna go ahead and give it 10/10.

Standouts: Down Human, Private, I Don’t Sleep

We Have Come For Your Parents- this one continues with the Nu-Metal/hardcore sound from the last album. It may continue the sound that was on the last album, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing as I really enjoyed the last album so to hear more of it is awesome.  I’ll go ahead and give this 9/10.

Standouts: Piss Virus, CK Killer, The Waiting 18

Join Or Die- this is just basically a compilation album of B sides and rarities. It’s nothing special but if you are more curious as to how their leftover tracks sound give this one to listen.  I’ll give it 8/10.

Standouts: Cracks Of Tomorrow, Disorderly Conduct, Die Diva Die

Death Before Musick- so this album ditches the Nu-Metal elements and just goes for more of a straightforward heavy metal mixed with hard-core punk sound. It’s not a complete departure from what they were doing before and some might say it all sounds the same, but you can tell that they were trying something a little different here.  Again like with the other albums it’s just a very fun yet aggressive album and I’ll give it 9/10.

Standouts: Westwood Fallout, California’s Bleeding, Bring Me The Heads

When you go back and look at who has been in this band, there really is an incredible list of Musicians. I mean, we have Dave Lombardo, Tumor from Snot, Shannon Larkin from Godsmack, Roy Mayorga, Piggy D (Roberto Zombie), etc. if you’re looking for just a really fun band that has that NU metal sound mixed with hard-core punk then absolutely give this band to listen.  If you’re looking for something new and exciting give this band a listen. It really is too bad that Casey Chaos is no longer here because I definitely would’ve loved to have seen this band live. RIP Casey Chaos
