So for this collaboration article, I decided to take a look at a collaboration between one of my favorite bands and a singer that quite honestly, I had never really listened to or really heard that much of. Now recently, I guess there was a collaboration between The Warning and someone named Maggie Lindemann. No, I had never really listened too much of Maggie Lindeman’s music so this is somewhat new territory for me and with that let’s take a look……..
Album: I Feel Everything
Song: Let Me Burn
So anybody that’s read my reviews or listened to the podcast knows how big of a fan I am of The Warning. Like they are absolutely one of my favorite bands and for being such a young and up-and-coming band, they really have put out some amazing albums. I’ve seen them live a few times and have been very fortunate to have met them on their 2024 tour. I’ve also spoken ad nauseam about them on the podcast and will continue to do so but the point I’m trying to make is that they’re one of those bands that has not put out really a bad album or song for that matter. Now they have done some collaborations in the past with other artists. There’s a collaboration with Band-Maid and one with a band called Dead Poet Society and both are pretty good collaborations, especially the one with Band-Maid. I didn’t really know about this until my buddy up in Sacramento sent me a message about it and then I just happened to log onto Instagram and came across Maggie talking about it.
Of course, when any band that you like, collaborates with another artist, it’s always fun and exciting and I gotta say this one unfortunately misses the mark. As I said, I am not familiar with Maggie Lindemann‘s music so I don’t really know much about her. I had heard that she had played Aftershock a few years ago, but that’s pretty much it. If you ask me, this one sounds more like a Maggie Lindemann song and less of a collaboration. I mean, yes she does have a good voice, but most of it is just her singing and you really can’t hear The Warning very much. I think for maybe one of the verses you can clearly tell it’s Dany but then after that, it’s mostly her. You also can’t even really tell that Pau and Ale are involved in any sort of way.
No, I did go and listen to a few of the other songs on the rest of the album and it almost seems as if The Warning is just an afterthought. It was kinda like she wrote the song and then decided at the very last minute to add contributions from The Warning. As I said, the only one that you can really hear for like one chorus is Dany. Overall, I guess if you are into an artist like Maggie Lindeman, you probably will like this collaboration very much but if you are a fan of The Warning you may not like it as much. It is kind of too bad because I just feel like this was a missed opportunity to make something great and it’s just kind of OK. I will say the positive thing about this is that hopefully it will bring in new fans for The Warning because I’m sure people will read the song title on streaming platforms like Spotify or even Apple Music and want to be curious as to who that band is.
Score: 5/10
