Well, it looks like it’s time for another Song Pick Of The Week and coming in at number 86/100 is one of my favorite death, metal bands Incantation. I discovered this band when I saw them open up for Nile. So with that, let’s take a look…………
So the song that I have chosen is “Iconoclasm Of Catholicism” and it’s off of my favorite album Mortal Throne Of Nazarene. This is one of those songs that has a lot of my favorite elements of American death metal those being obviously the deep guttural vocals, the tremolo guitar picking, and the thunderous bass and drums. It’s sort of like a roller coaster of a song by that I mean it starts off fast and aggressive slows it down for a little bit and then goes right back up. It’s definitely one of those songs that makes you appreciate the album even more. This year in 2025 I was lucky enough to see them play the full album live and it definitely did not disappoint. Fun fact about this album is that Relapse Records were unhappy with the original recording and made the band go back and re-record it. The original recordings were later released under the album name Upon The Throne Of Apocalypse. If you’re going to start listening to this band, I would definitely recommend starting with this album but even more so this song.
