Originally when I put Marilyn Manson on the Chopping Block, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about his albums but there are some great albums including One Assassination Under God Chapter 1. When it comes to Chapter 2, I’d say that this one feels very much like an actual second chapter. Of course this is one of those albums where listening to both chapters back to back makes for a fun listening experience. Now whereas the previous album was a more industrial gothic sounding record, this one has more of a darker feel to it. Chapter 1 was more industrial driven and this one seems to be more synth/guitar driven. Chapter 1 seems to focus more on personal reckoning, survival, and public controversy whereas Chapter 2 is more about boundaries. Actually, this album sort of reminds of the album Holywood a little bit. Either way, both albums are great and the fact that he decided to make a two-part album is really cool. I’ll give this 8.5/10
