Bloodbath

I must say I’ve never heard a supergroup that I didn’t like. I mean there are ones like Velvet Revolver, Audioslave, S.O.D., and then there are ones like Bloodbath. That’s who is on the chopping block today. This is another Swedish death metal band and it has members from Hypocrisy, Opeth, Katatonia, and Paradise Lost. So let’s take a look…..

Breeding Death- this is the debut EP of Bloodbath and it’s just a 3 song EP.  It’s a good EP but I would start with their first full length. I give this 9/10

Standouts: Furnace Funeral

Resurrection Through Carnage- so this one came out in 2002 and it definitely reminds me of that old school death metal sound that came out of Sweden in the 90’s. I mean you’ve got the buzz saw guitar sound and the vocals. I actually came across this album while listening to the metal mix on Spotify. And while I’m not a fan of Opeth, I definitely like Mikael Åkerfeldt’s vocals on here a lot better. I give this 10/10

Standouts: Ways To The Grave, Like Fire, The Soulcollector

Nightmares Made Flesh- for some reason even though this came out in 2004, the overall sound is different on here. Not sure how to describe it. Anyway, this album has Peter Tägtgren on vocals and he does a good job but I think I prefer Mikael Åkerfeldt’s vocals a bit more. I think they are a bit more brutal. Anyway, this one can at time feel slowed down but also the riffs are more crushing. Definitely check this one out. I give it 9.5/10

Standouts: Bastard Son Of God, Soul Evisceration, Blood Vortex

The Fathomless Mastery- and we have Mikael Åkerfeldt back on vocals and you can definitely say this is nothing like his other band Opeth.  The drummer who also played on the album Watershed is also on here. So that alone makes for a great album. Aside from the vocals, the drum and guitar work are great on here too. We even have a former vocalist from Scar Symmetry do guest vocals on the song Lesous.  This definitely gets 10/10

Standouts: Mock The Cross, Lesous, Slaughtering The Will To Live

Unblessing The Purity- This is an ep that came out around the time as the last album. Not a whole lot to say about this one except that it’s just 4 songs and they seem to,be a continuation of the last record. I give it 8/10

Standouts: Mouth Of Empty Praise

Grand Morbid Funeral- so this is the first album to feature Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost) on vocals and he definitely again has that old school death metal style. I’d even say that this album has even more of that sound going for it. I mean just look at the album cover. Aside from that, this is another must listen. Some parts tend to drag/slow down but this is still an awesome album. I give this 9/10

Standouts: Total Death Exhumed, Unite In Pain, Mental Abortion

The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn- I like to think of this album as old school Swedish death metal with a modern sound. If that makes any sense. I don’t know listen to the record and you will see. Anyway, same vocalist, but I feel like the songs are faster. Anyway, if you like your Swedish death metal old school and buzz saw sounding, then give this a listen. I give this 9.5/10

Standouts: Bloodicide, Warhead Ritual, Chainsaw Lullaby

This one was definitely short but sweet. If you’re into bands like early Entombed, Dismember, Grave, or even LIK, then you will definitely like these guys. It is awesome that vocalists from different bands can do this kind of music. Anyway, check these guys out you’ll definitely like what you hear.
