Who doesn’t like a good festival?? I mean seriously they are so much fun especially if you have to travel for it. One particular festival that I want to talk about is called Sick New World which takes place in Las Vegas and Texas. So with that let’s take a look………
When it comes to music festivals, they all pretty much take place over a weekend but when it comes to Sick New World, it’s a one-day festival with 50+ bands. Now at first glance one might think to themselves “oh wow that is an absolutely killer lineup” but then you have to remember that it’s a one-day festival and you’re not going to be able to see all the bands. Even if you did make an effort to see all of the bands, you’re only going be able to see maybe one, possibly two songs at best. It just doesn’t make sense to have 50 bands play one day. Take this years Aftershock for example, you have bands My Chemical Romance, Tool, and Limp Bizkit closing the night but through out the day you also have bands like The Pretty Reckless, Brujeria, Slaughter To Prevail, Cavalera, AFI, Down, and Coheed And Cambria.
If I lived in Vegas or Texas, I would absolutely go to this but if you’re traveling from out of town, you have to book a flight a hotel, and possibly a car. Now let’s talk about the cost of the ticket. It’s around $350 and that is absolutely insane for a one day festival!! For just a little bit more, you could easily go to a festival like Louder Than Life, Rocklahoma, or Aftershock and those are all 4 day festivals. So let’s think about it, you have the price of the festival, flight, hotel, car, merch, and food all for just a one day festival where you’re really only going to see maybe a couple songs from each band (and even then you might not see everyone) so is it really worth it?? Why on earth this isn’t a weekend thing is beyond me!! And why the HELL do bands like Failure get scheduled so early (around 11:30)???
The people who are behind this are seriously seriously on something. I mean they cancelled the 2025 festival because they booked Metallica and Linkin Park!! Why the actual hell would you book two of the biggest bands in the world and not make your event a weekend festival??!! I want whatever these people are on because that is some serious delusion. From this day forth, Sick New World shall be known as Lame New World!!
