Rollins Band

Up next on the chopping block is another band that I would say flew under the radar. The band on the chopping block is Rollins Band and I’ve never really heard much from them. So with that let’s take a look……

Lifetime- so this one has a hardcore punk sound to it much like Henry Rollins Black Flag days, this would kind of be an extension of that. Either way, it’s not a bad way to start just know that if you want to listen to this one you gotta go to YouTube to do so. I’ll give it 9/10

Standouts: Burned Beyond Recognition, Turned Out, Lonely

Hard Volume- so this one isn’t as punk-y as the first album.  Yes it has some punk to it but it has almost a funk sound. It’s a pretty interesting record and I found that while it does sound like it came out in the late 80’s/early 90’s, it doesn’t sound or feel dated.  Again unfortunately you have to go on YouTube to listen to it damn it!!  I’ll give this one 9.5/10

Standouts: Hard, Down And Away, Planet Joe

End Of Silence- I found this one to have almost a blues-y kind of sound along with more of a hard rock sound. It’s certainly a little different and I feel like it did drag a little but overall a good record. I’ll give it an 8/10

Standouts: Low Self Opinion, You Didn’t Need, Another Life

Weight- I feel like here they were firing on all cylinders. This album to me is the one that if I would tell people to listen to. There’s so many styles going on from rap, jazz, funk, and punk that it makes for a great record. Definitely a very underrated album from an underrated band. And again another album you have to go on YouTube to find!!  I’ll give it 10/10

Standouts: Icon, Fool, Civilized

Come In And Burn- I’d say that this one is more or less the same but it does have more of a jazz emphasis. Personally, I think Henry kinda sounds like Glenn Danzig but it actually works. This one is a little slower compared to the other albums so I’ll give it a 7/10

Standouts: Shame, Neon, Rejection

Get Some Go Again- this has kind of a Thin Lizzy meets Black Sabbath sound. I don’t know how to exactly explain it but this was a really fun record and definitely a step up from the last album. I’ll give this one 9.5/10

Standouts: Get Some Go Again, Thinking Cap, Monster

Nice- again another album with many different styles going on.  By now, it should just be assumed that that’s what makes these albums special. I definitely hear a lot more of the funkiness on this one and overall this is a really cool record. It’s too bad that this is their last album. I’ll give this one 10/10

Standouts:  Up For It, What’s The Matter Man, Going Out Strange

What I love about these albums is that they all have a lot going on but at the same time they’re all special in their own way. It really is too bad that Henry Rollins isn’t going to make music anymore because I for one would love to see this band live.  I have heard that they brought a lot of energy to their shows and that they were always a good time.  If you’re looking for a continuation of black flag, this isn’t that band. But either way these albums kick ass and it’s too bad that not all of them are easy to access.
