Song Pick Of The Week: Mudvayne- Death Blooms

Coming in at number 75/100 is Mudvayne!!  I feel like this band has had a resurgence of sorts in the last couple of years.  Anyway, the song I’ve chosen for Song Pick Of The Week is “Death Blooms” off of the L.D. 50 album. Let’s take a look………

I honestly had a harder time choosing a song from them because their early is so damn good!!  I do remember them getting compared to Slipknot for a short while,e but they really aren’t anything like them. “Death Blooms” is one of the first songs that really got me into Mudvayne and I still have it on rotation when I’m in a Mudvayne kind of mood. The song is about singer Chad Gray’s grandmother Betty Rae who played a big role in his life by taking him to local choirs, which is where he learned how to sing. The song is also about how she was neglected by the family when she became ill thus leaning on Chad as her primary support system.  Of course there is a music video for it which was filmed in a hospital in New York, as well as on the beach in Malibu. Fun fact, the hospital that was used in the video is the same one that was in the film Jacob’s Ladder.  All that aside this is just an absolutely bad ass track from a great album and I would definitely give it a listen if it’s been a while.
