Going down the list to the number one spot on my top 100 we’ve now arrived at number 82 that being High On Fire. High On Fire is one of those heavy guitar riff, bands and the Song Pick Of The Week is “Luminiferous.” let’s take a look……….
This is one of those bands that after seeing them at the 2025 Aftershock festival, made me go back and listen to their albums. I mean, you just cannot deny the utter heaviness that this band is and Matt Pike absolutely brings the heaviness (as do the rest of the band, of course). I chose this song because it has pretty much most of my favorite elements of a perfect heavy song. It’s got the fast chugging guitar riffs and the thunderous rhythm section not to mention the speed with the semi harsh vocals. This is absolutely one of those songs that just beat you over the head and doesn’t let up until the very last second and I am a huge fan of songs like that. Personally, when I listen to this particular track, it almost makes me think of a sped up Motörhead. For some, High On Fire may be an acquired taste but if you’re going to start with any of their songs, this one probably should be one of your first ones.
