This band was of course a request/recommendation and they have put out their debut album on July 10, 2026. They are called Plague Ritual and their album is called Where Souls Go To Die. Let’s take a look…
Once the intro ends and that first note hits, it’s on and THAT is how you start an album!! My first impressions are that if you were to take Suffocation and combine it with Bloodbath, this is what you’d get. It turns out that this band is made up of 3/5’s of former members from Hatriot who was former Exodus singer’s Zetro’s other band!! One thing to also point out is that the song “The Bloodletting” has a guest guitar solo from none other than Phil Demmel (Machine Head, Kerry King, Vio-lence) and he’s one of those players where you can absolutely tell it’s him playing. Also the song “Forgotten By Time” has a guest solo from Matt Harvey (Exhumed) which is sort of similar to the Phil Demmel solo. When you have two heavyweights in the metal world on your debut album, I think that’s pretty damn cool. I think it’s great when members of one band branch off and form other badass bands. It’s even cooler when they form a band that is a different style because now we as fans get two different bands. If you are looking for that kind of old-school death metal sound but with a modern twist, then definitely give Plague Ritual a listen and hopefully they will be on a North American tour sooner rather than later. I’ll give this album 8.5/10
