If there’s one band that needs to tour more it’s Chimaira. A few days ago, I was listening to the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack and I forgot that they wrote the song “Army Of Me.” Aside from that being a badass movie, the soundtrack is equally badass. Let’s take a look…..
There was just something special about the early 2000’s metal scene. That was the hey day of bands like Chimaira, Shadows Fall, Lamb Of God, Killswitch Engage, and Slipknot. Looking back now, I really miss that time because those bands were constantly on tour and play small places. Not only did those bands constantly tour but many of them were featured on movie soundtracks such as Freddy vs. Jason. In the case of Chimaira, them being on the Ozzfest 2003 tour and being included on this soundtrack helped them reach a wider audience. Originally what made the Freddy vs. Jason soundtrack special was that a lot of it included unreleased songs for many of the bands. Eventually, “Army Of Me” would be included on the deluxe edition of The Impossibility Of Reason but for a good while it was only available on this soundtrack or on the U.K. release. I definitely consider this to be one of their hidden gems and it’s a shame they didn’t play this one live very often.
