Since we have a new album from Nervosa on the horizon, I thought for this Song Pick Of The Week, I thought we would take a look at the song “Smashing Heads.” It’s been said that this one will not appear on the new album so let’s take a look…….
What makes this song special is that it was released as a thank you to the fans for supporting and listening over the last 15 years. 2025 was the 15 year anniversary of when the band form and this is what I would call a standalone single. I mean, there’s really no deep meaning behind this song it’s called “Smashing Heads” and well it’s about killing people. What I really like about a band like Nervosa, whether it’s the albums where Fernanda Lira was on vocals, the one album with Diva Satanica, or the current iteration, you kind of know what you’re going to get. I’ve noticed that when it comes to great thrash metal and death metal, Brazil really is one of those countries that produces great bands. One thing to note about this song is that it’s the first with new bass player Emmelie Herwegh. This is interesting because this band now has two bass players. I guess whenever Hel Pyre is not on tour with her other bands, Emmelie plays bass. It’s an interesting and unusual way of doing things, but it works. But back to the song. It’s just a great overall thrash metal song and it’s something to tide fans over until the new album is released.
