Infected Rain (Rewind)

Up next is another rewind review and the band back on the chopping block is Infected Rain. Now I did the original review a couple years ago and since then they have released another album so let’s take a look…….

EP 2009- I decided to start here because I skipped this one last time I reviewed them. It’s their first EP and it’s a good start. It’s basically a pretty good preview of things to come for at least the first couple albums. I’ll give it 8.5/10

Standouts: Judgmental Trap, With Me, No Idols

Asylum- this one has sort of a Nü Metal tone to it and honestly, Lena Scissorhands (vocals) kinda reminds me of Otep (when she does harsh vocals). She does a pretty good job of switching from harsh to clean vocals. Either way, this is a pretty good start.

Previous Score: 8/10

New Score: 8.5/10

Standouts: Voices, The Life Game, Unwritten Letter

Embrace Eternity- this one I’d say has a slight edge over the last album because I am more of a fan of the harsher vocals and I feel like you get a bit more of that here. One thing I also enjoyed about this one was the guitar and drum work. This one is just a bit more structured and the band is tighter here.

Previous Score: 8.5/10

New Score: 9/10

Standouts: Hysterical Watches, Count To Three, Stop Waiting

86- I guess originally I thought this one wasn’t that good but now I actually liked this one so much more. The songs are faster and the band I feel is firing on all cylinders.  The drum work is awesome and the riffs kinda have a Meshuggah-y feel. Definitely one to check out.

Previous Score: 7/10

New Score: 10/10

Standouts: Serendipity, Freaky Carnival, Smoking Lies

Endorphin- this one is definitely their slowest album yet. While there are songs with the harsher vocals, there is a lot more clean singing.  It’s not a bad album by any means but I think I prefer the previous entries. I will give them props for trying to branch out and possibly try something different.

Previous Score: 7/10

New Score: 7/10

Standouts: Lure, Symphony Of Trust, Taphephobia

Ecdysis- this one isn’t quite as slowed down as the last album and it would seem they are maybe trying to have a more balanced album. I’d say this is definitely a slight improvement over Endorphin.  Again perhaps they’re trying to do something a little different.

Previous Score: 9/10

New Score: 8/10

Standouts: Goodbye, The Realm Of Chaos, Never The Same

TIME- so this one came out last year and I feel like it’s an amalgamation of everything that’s been done up to this point. You’ve got songs that are reminiscent of the first couple albums mixed with what they were doing for the last couple albums. I’ll give this one 9/10

Standouts: THE ANSWER IS YOU, DYING LIGHT, UNPREDICTABLE

This is a really fun band to listen to. Their songs don’t drag and Lena Scissorhands really has an amazing voice and does a great job going from harsh to clean vocals. The guitar work by Vidick on these albums is great, the drummer Eugene is fantastic, and the new bass player Alice Lane is great too. At the time of this review, I have not seen them live but would very much like to.  Definitely check this band out you won’t be disappointed.
