Song Pick Of The Week: Rancid- Roots Radical

Coming in at number 84 of my top 100 is one of my all-time favorite punk bands. The band in question is Rancid and the song in question is “Roots Radicals” off of the album And Out Come The Wolves. Let’s Take A Look………..

If you were to ask me what one of the definitive 90s punk album is my first choice is more than likely going to be And Out Come The Wolves. There are so many great songs off of this record and if you ask me, this is the album that broke this band.  Even the radio hits (if that’s what you want even call them) or not overplayed at all.  Now the song “Roots Radicals” is a tribute to Roots reggae which I guess in the early days, the band would listen to this type of music which was the inspiration for this song. The entire song, just references, roots, reggae, musicians, and there’s even a reference to the Symarip track Skinhead Moonstomp which alludes callously to their skinhead fan base. Either way this is just a great song from what I consider a perfect punk record.
