Rising Star Reviews: CatRat

One of the great things about being involved with Cobalt Presents is that I get to see some really great bands. Doing these shows really opens up your ears to a lot of really great talent and further proves that Rock music is certainly far from dead.  In fact, I would say it’s thriving and one such Rising Star Band that I had the privilege of seeing is called CatRat.  No it’s not an off shoot of the band Mouse Rat (from Parks And Recreation) but it is one of those bands that grabs your attention. Let’s take a look…….

It’s very rare that a band starts playing and makes you go “wow” and that certainly was the reaction that I had once this band started playing at Hotel Ziggy about a week and a half ago. Now this band is comprised of two sisters Molly and Frances (who are both 12 and 13 btw) and once they hit that first note it was on!! I’ve been doing these. Cobalt shows now for about a year and a half, and I have never seen the entire venue walk over and watch a band like this. That is pretty damn impressive if I do say so myself.  They have energy, can play amazingly well, and I’m really excited to hear what they have in the future.  Now, when it comes to streaming their music, you would need to listen to them via Bandcamp.  They have two single singles one called “Lemons” and the other is “Running Over Kids (great song name BTW).” The best way I can describe their sound is punk meets surf rock meets garage rock with some groove added in for good measure. Definitely give this band a listen, a follow, and keep an eye out because they put on one hell of a show!!
