Rising Star Reviews: Gerbil

As I’ve said (and I believe it says so on my homepage) but if anybody that reads my articles, has any suggestions whatsoever, let me know. I am always ALWAYS in the search for new and exciting bands. And one such band that I am putting on the Chopping Block is the band Gerbil. Let’s take a look…

There are some bands that you listen to and when that first part of the first song hits make you go “ this is a band that wears their influences on their sleeve.” That is very much the case with this band, but they do it in a way while adding some really fun nuances. The first song that I heard from them is called “Stubborn (Can’t Let Go)” and singer Karla Trautman kind of reminds me of a young Gwen Stefani. Of course you add in some fantastic guitar playing from Lukas Shepherd along with bass and drums from Hannah Chizzo and Miguel Ramirez and you have a recipe for greatness. The best way that I can describe their sound would be take one part early No Doubt (the good years) and add a dash of atmospheric-ness with just a touch of punk and you’d get Gerbil.

Now when it comes to streaming their music, they only have three songs online however, they are three great songs that sound different. This is a relatively young band and if they’re this great now, then I am definitely excited to hear what they have to offer next. Of course, if you would like to see this new and exciting band then you should make your way on over to Hotel Ziggy on July 25, 2026 for The Cobalt Presents 5 Year Anniversary Show!! I for one and very excited to see them and I know that they’re going to put on a great show!!
