Up next is another one of those underrated bands that I feel could’ve inspired several other bands. This one was a request and the band on the chopping block is the band Prong and they’re another one of those that should’ve probably been reviewed a long time ago but here we are and with that, let’s take a look………
Force Fed- this one is a straight up thrash record but it’s got some groove to it. I can hear influences like early Metallica on this one which makes for an absolutely badass record. This is one of those albums that if you want to listen to it ya gotta go to YouTube to do so. I’ll give this one 9/10 great start
Standouts: Freezer Burn, Primitive Origins, Force Fed
Beg To Differ- so again another thrash record but this one seems like they are more dialed in and tighter. I will say that some of these songs are almost anthem-y which isn’t something new just a little different. Either way, great follow up and I’ll give it 9/10
Standouts: Steady Decline, For Dear Life, Right To Nothing
Prove You Wrong- this one doesn’t have as much thrash or hardcore punk like the last two albums but instead has more of a groove metal, progressive, and funk sound. It’s definitely an experimental sounding record but doesn’t stray so far away that it feels like a new band. I’ll give this one 8.5/10
Standouts: Unconditional, Positively Blind, Brainwave
Cleansing- ok so if you’re a fan of 90’s Sepultura and Pantera, then you’ll love this record. This has groove metal as well as industrial and alternative metal elements. This is a great record and I’d say that so far this one is easily their most accessible. Overall this is one badass album and it gets 10/10
Standouts: Another Worldly Device, Cut-Rate, Broken Peace
Rude Awakening- so for this one they decide to continue on with the industrial metal sound that was on the previous album. This one is slower than the last album, but not in a bad sort of way. In fact, if you listen to the last album and this one, it actually flows quite nicely. Overall, not as strong as the previous record, but still a great follow up and I’ll give it 8.5/10
Standouts: Controller, Caprice, Without Hope
Scorpio Rising- I really wanted to like this one a lot more and while yes the guitar riffs are great, this one just kinda dragged. The songs were ok but compared to the albums before this one, they’re just not as strong. Overall, this one is just average and I’ll give it 6/10
Standouts: All Knowing Force, Reactive Mind, Letter To A “Friend”
Power Of The Damager- again this one has some great guitar tone and guitar work but it’s kind of forgettable. I did enjoy the riffs but I just couldn’t really get into this one as much as some of their other albums. Cool album name and great guitar work but overall, just an ok album that kind of feels uneven. Again another album that you need to go on YouTube to listen to. I’ll give this one 6/10
Standouts: Pure Ether, No Justice, Looking For Them
Carved Into Stone- the thrash metal is back!! It does combine what they’ve done for the last few albums and mixes it with thrash which makes for an awesome record. I’ll give this one 9/10
Standouts: Eternal Heat, Ammunition, Carved Into Stone
Ruining Lives- this one definitely picks up where they left off but for some reason again it feels a little uneven. Maybe it’s the way the song order is but it’s kind of all over the place. The songs themselves are good but not great. I’ll give this one 8.5/10
Standouts: Turnover, Self Will Run Riot, Limitations And Validations
Songs From The Black Hole- this is the obligatory covers album. I mean if you like cover songs and want to hear how Prong would sound playing songs from Butthole Surfers and Black Flag then you’ll probably like this one. I’ll give it an 8/10
Standouts: Doomsday, Vision Thing, Give Me The Cure
X- No Absolutes- this one definitely brings back the thrashy type riffs and the songs are also kind of anthem-y. To me this is the album that should’ve come after Carved Into Stone. It’s got that thrashy meets groove metal and it’s a great record. I’ll give it 9/10
Standouts- Cut And Dry, Ultimate Authority, In Spite Of Hindrances
Zero Days- I feel like this is more of the same from the previous album and that’s what I’m kind of noticing with a few of these records. I’m not saying that it’s a bad thing, but it’s just another continuation of the X album. I’ll give it 9/10
Standouts- However It May End, Off The Grid, The Whispers
State Of Emergency- I feel like with this one. It’s kind of got a little bit of everything sort of like they took what they had done up until this point and just mixed it all together. It does make for a very good record, and I feel that there is a little something for everybody who is a fan of this band on this album. I’ll give this one 8/10
Standouts: Who Told Me, The Descent, Breaking Point
This is definitely one of those bands that I feel more people should know. As I said earlier, if you are a fan of bands like Pantera or Sepultura, then this is definitely a band that you should listen to if you haven’t already. Tommy Victor is a fantastic guitar player and singer. I really like the big riffs that he has on these records. They’re just absolutely crushing and he’s definitely underrated. Here’s a tour idea….Helmet and Prong. Just saying……
