Jinjer

Up next is a band you may or may not have heard of. What do you get when you combine Lamb Of God, Arch Enemy, a little bit of Meshuggah and (maybe) some Trivium? You get the band Jinjer and that’s who is up on the chopping block. So with that let’s take a look…….

Inhale, Do Not Breathe- well I guess this is a debut EP and not a full length. That said, the songs on here are just ok. I mean they aren’t anything mind blowing or super spectacular. I mean if I went into this band blind and heard this, I would think that they’re just a run of the mill metalcore band. Nothing special. I’ll give this one a 6/10

Standouts: Scissors, Hypocrites & Critics, Destroy (live)

Cloud Factory- this one is definitely a step up from the last album. This still has that metalcore sound going for it but the singer Tatiana goes from singing to more guttural vocals and she does it quite well. I mean on this one she still has that rawness going on as does the rest of the band but this is definitely a worthwhile album. I’ll give it 8/10

Standouts: Outlander, Cloud Factory, Who Is Gonna Be The One

King Of Everything- so here I feel like they are now finding their sound.  Tatiana’s vocals are more dialed in and the band sounds a lot tighter and focused. This one also has the song Pisces which is where I first heard of this band (just YouTube reaction videos to that song). Overall this is a fantastic album with a good balance of clean vocals and guttural vocals. I mean you really can’t go wrong with this album. I’ll give it a 10/10

Standouts: Words Of Wisdom, Captain Clock, Under The Dome

Macro- I remember when this album came out. The Liquid Metal channel on Sirius XM was playing the song Judgement And Punishment constantly. I definitely get some Meshuggah vibes on here. I feel like with this one they definitely are at their peak and have found their sound. I actually really enjoyed this album aside from the single and definitely recommend checking this one out. I’ll give this another 10/10

Standouts: Noah, Retrospection, The Prophecy

Micro- this is just a 5 song EP but I feel like it needs to be mentioned. Yes it’s only a few songs but it’s a great companion piece to Macro. The songs for the most part are really good. Definitely something worth listening to after Macro. I’ll give this 9/10

Standouts- Perennial,  Dreadful Moments

Wallflowers- there is a heaviness to this album that I’m not sure how to describe. Something about the guitar tone on this album is really cool. Again another fantastic album with the band firing on all cylinders. I think it’s safe to say that they can only go up from here. This was another really enjoyable album. I’ll give this 9.5/10

Standouts: Disclosure, Copycat, Call Me A Symbol

This was definitely a short but sweet review but it was also a lot of fun. The problem with bands that have female vocalists is that most people focus on that one aspect (which definitely needs to change).  However the whole band is really good. Now these guys were supposed to be on the Slipknot tour but since they’re are from Ukraine, they (I guess) decided to go back and help their country so hopefully they will be ok and can tour again soon. I for one can’t wait for that because I would love to see them live.

Final Grade: A-
