While going through old playlists, sometimes you come across songs you haven’t listened to in a really long time. Naturally one is inclined to play them, and I came across the song “To Have And To Have Not” by Lars Frederikson And The Bastards. Let’s take a look……
For those that may or may not know Lars has several bands, but he’s mostly known for being in the band Rancid. This is definitely a really fun song and (fun fact), this is a cover song. The original song is by Billy Bragg and both sound totally different from each other. Of course songs like this usually have a music video to accompany it. The video has deep personal meaning for Lars as it is dedicated to his brother Robert who tragically passed away from an aneurysm right before the band was about to go on tour. The video was also directed by fellow Rancid band mate Tim Armstrong and he really captures the emotion and personal loss. A very interesting and tragic story to an otherwise great song/cover.
