For today’s Song Pick Of The Week, we’re off to Japan and checking out the band Band-Maid!! Band-Maid is a Japanese hard rock band that is just so much fun. I’ve chosen the song “Domination” so let’s take a look…..
I first came across this band because of a collaboration that they did with The Warning and in fact you can check that out here https://sinisterreviews.com/collaborations-the-warning-band-maid/ As it is with bands that collaborate, you become curious about the one you haven’t heard of and it was this song that made me a fan. These ladies definitely write great heavy rock songs and it’s too bad they don’t really tour the U.S.
Now the song working title was originally “World Domination” however it was changed to just “Domination” and the former was instead used as the record title. When it came to writing the song itself, singer Saiki Atsumi asked lead guitarist Kanami Tōno to write a song based on world domination to which she did and in fact she was inspired by Street Fighter 2 of all things. If you’re looking for something a bit different or just want some great heavy rock with a Japanese twist, then give Band-Maid and this song a listen.
