In my quest to the number one spot on my top 100 we’re going to stop here at number 83. Number 83 is none other than The Dillinger Escape Plan and the song Pick Of The Week is “Milk Lizard.” Let’s take a look…..
I’m sure this is considered one of their hits but honestly, I just can’t help myself. One of the things that makes this a unique song is there’s a horn section so not only can this band call themselves math-core but also brass-core. I remember reading a comment online that said there needs to be more horns in metal and I kind of agree. I’m sure some people remember this song being played on the radio station KRUNCH 106.66 in the game Saints Row 2. And more recently it was played on the last Dillinger tour with the singer from Thought Crimes. This is one of those songs that I would say has almost a Scooby Doo theme vibe. And while this band is known for its crazy weird time signatures and changes, there’s just a groove to this song and it’s definitely not your typical Dillinger tune. Now I’ve never seen Dillinger with Greg on vocals, but I have no doubt that when they played this song, nobody in the audience stood still.
