Rising Star Reviews: The Cherry Club

As I was combing through the archives of previous Cobalt Presents flyers, I came across a band with a very interesting name, and after looking them up on Spotify, I decided to put them on the chopping block. That band is called The Cherry Club so let’s take a look………

I would say the best way that I can describe this band is sort of Indie rock with a dash of punk.  They actually remind me of that band The Pink Slips and I was trying for the longest time to figure out who they sort of reminded me of. You can totally tell that they’re influenced by bands like Hole, Babes In Toyland, Depeche Mode, and L7.  Overall, it’s just a great mix of both styles. From the live footage that I was able to look up on YouTube, it seems like they bring a lot of energy and fun to their shows.  Now they don’t have a full length or any kind of EP but rather just seven singles which you can get through in about a half hour or so. There are two live songs from SOHO SB and they both do a pretty good job of capturing how they sound live, but to be honest, I really wish they would just put out the rest of the songs or a brand new album. Hopefully in 2026 we get some new music, but we shall see.  Definitely check this band out if you’re looking for something a little different or if you’re looking for something fun and good.
