For this Rising Star Review, we’re gonna take a trip down to the OC and put the band Terminally Ill on the Chopping Block!! Now like with most of these newer bands, they came across my radar via Spotify. I liked what I heard and decided to check out the rest of their music. Let’s take a look…….
I believe it was the song “Never Satisfied” that made me say/think “well this band seems like a lot of fun.” Terminally Ill is the kind of band where if you take bands like Black Flag, Pennywise, give it that Nü-Metal sound and add the sense of humor of bands like Gamma Bomb or Muncipal Waste. What makes a band like this stand out is that they actually have two vocalists and both of them actually remind me of someone like Billy Milano (S.O.D./M.O.D.). What I really like about this band is that they also have songs called “24 Hour Beer City” and “Steal Shit” and it’s just really refreshing to know that there are bands that are putting out this kind of music. Now when it comes to streaming their music, they have a 5 song EP called Nü Dawg, Old Tricks as well as a couple of other songs. The EP is only 15 minutes and the songs are only about 3 minutes long which means you can listen to all of their music in less than 30 minutes. I did look up their live performances on YouTube and they really seem like they’re just having fun. They’re energetic, running around on stage, making jokes, and just having an absolute blast. That’s what makes music great is the fun aspect and I think a lot of bands tend to miss out on the “let’s just have fun” side of things. So if you’re looking for something energetic and fun, definitely give Terminally Ill a listen.
