One day as I was going through old Cobalt Presents flyers, I came across a band with an interesting name Lava Diva. Turns out that they have been around for quite awhile and that’s who is on the Chopping Block for today’s Band Spotlight. Let’s take a look…..
So after doing some digging online, it turns out that this band has in fact been around since the 90s. They did their thing and then went dormant for a very long time and now they’re back (or I should say have been back). The best way I can describe their music is the perfect mixture of Indie rock meets hard rock with a touch of classic rock. When you listen to their music, it does sound very much like 90s music however it does not sound dated and I think that’s pretty impressive for something like that to hold up. When it comes to streaming their music, they have 2 full lengths which include one self-titled album and another one called Creaks And Dogs.
The self-titled is very much the aforementioned description and it’s just a fun, great listening experience. What I like about it is the simplicity. Sometimes you don’t need things to be complicated you just need to rock. Now the second album Creaks And Dogs is an acoustic album and anyone who knows me knows how I feel about acoustic albums. However, there are exceptions and this is definitely one of those times. I never thought I would have fun listening to an acoustic album but here we are.
At the time of writing this, they will be playing The Cobalt Presents 5 Year Anniversary Show Part 1 at The Corbin Bowl on Saturday July 11, 2026 so you’d better get down there and check them and all the other bands out!! But seriously if you are looking for something different then check this band out!!!
