If you don’t have plans on November 22, 2025 now you do and for this Band Spotlight review, I thought I would take a look at a band for the upcoming Cobalt Presents show at Hotel Ziggy in LA. This band is actually quite young, but I’ve been finding myself listening to younger bands (now that I think about it for the last couple of years). But anyway, the band that I’m going to Spotlight is Ayva so with that, let’s take a look……..
The best way to describe the sound is atmospheric Indie rock. What kind of surprised me the most about the band is how immensely talented they are at such a young age. Seriously go listen to any of the singles that are on whatever streaming service that you use and they don’t sound like a band that has only been doing this since 2023. Now this is what I would maybe consider more on the easier listening side of things. Like if you wanted to just kind of put on some noise canceling headphones and put on any of these songs, I could see one getting lost in the experience. There are about 11 singles and one full length album (which is a little surprising because most of these younger bands that I’ve been listening to as of late have mostly singles and EP’s) so I gotta say that’s kind of impressive. Now I will not be reviewing the album here but what I will say is that it’s quite good and it’s just an extension of what they had been doing before. If they’re this talented at such a young age, I am very much looking forward to hearing what she and the band have to offer in the future.
**update: at the time of writing this on February 26, 2026, the song “Tearing Apart” has been released. And I have to say it’s a little different than her other songs. It’s more up-tempo and sort of punk-y. It’s a really fun song and if you have not listened to it, go give it a spin. Now it’s not something entirely new but little things like that are what make music like this more exciting.
