OK, so in the course of listening, eclectic and expanding my horizons I’ve been very lucky to have been involved with The Cobalt Presents shows with my podcast cohost Brian of Audioeclectica. At the time of this review, there is an upcoming show for the magazine Highwire Daze and so I thought I would spotlight the different bands that are playing on November 15, 2025 at The Corbin Bowl in Tarzana. Now before I get 2 into it if you have not gone to a Cobalt Presents show you absolutely must because there are a lot of really great and talented younger bands that get to play. So let’s take a look……..
So for this review, I thought I would take a look at the band The Drained. So from what I gather this is a younger band out of Los Angeles and I gotta say they’re pretty damn talented. Now if you go on Spotify, which is where I listen to 98% of the bands I review they’ve only have a couple of EPs and a few singles. Now if you do what I did and just listen to the songs in release order, you know they kind of go from obviously the pop rock/pop punk sound but then they kinda venture off on some of their other songs and go for a kind of an atmospheric sound. It’s actually really kind of cool. It’s atmospheric, but somehow maintains that kind of pop sound. What I like about this band and what I sort of picked up on was that aside from kind of going a little bit on the atmospheric side of things you kind of get pop punk meets Indie rock with a little bit of atmosphere thrown in there. That’s probably the best way I can describe what I’ve heard from this band so far I for one am looking forward to seeing them live on November 15 at The Corbin Bowl. If you’re looking for something a little different, give this band a listen your ears will not be disappointed.
