For this forgotten classic we’re taking a look at the song “Hey Jealousy” I feel like with this one it was in practically every 90s sappy, romantic comedy or trailer for romantic comedy, etc…. So with, that let’s take a look…….
You know doing these Forgotten Classics really does take one back to a simpler time and this song is another example of that. Nostalgia aside, it’s catchy and reminds me of listening to music back in the day. Basically the song is about former lead guitarist’s Doug Hopkins desire to get back with his ex who had left him due to his drinking and cheating. Interesting fact is that right before the release, the line you cannot trust me not to drink was changed to you cannot trust me not to think by Robin Wilson (lead singer). I guess he had grown tired of the lyrical references to Hopkins’ drinking problem and didn’t think it was a big deal to change that one word. Shortly before the album was released, Hopkins was fired and it only furthered his drinking. However you feel about this track, you cannot deny the fact that this is definitely a classic from the 90’s.
