Song Pick Of The Week: Sisters Of Suffocation- Buried In The Crowd

Alright so it’s Thursday which means it’s time for another Song Pick Of The Week. And coming in at number 98, is a band that you may or may not know about Sisters Of Suffocation (no it’s not an off shoot of the New York death metal band Suffocation). Sisters Of Suffocation is a band from Eindhoven and I first heard about them through either Spotify recommendations or I think instagram.  But either way, let’s take a look……..

Album: Eradication

Song: Buried In The Crowd

If you’re into European death metal like I am, you’ll definitely like this band. This particular song is off their latest album and it’s one of those that has like no introduction and just goes for it (an example would be the song As The Palaces Burn).  This is one of those short but sweet songs and there’s kind of a lot in a song that’s just under two minutes.  The vocals sound like a cross between Overkill mixed with Arch Enemy (Angela era) but the guitar work is what makes this song badass especially the solo. Simone Van Straten and Emmelie Herwegh are both great guitar players and complement each other very well (I believe this is their first album with two guitar players). Honestly aside from this song, the rest of the album is pretty badass so if you’re in the mood for some good European death metal give these ladies a listen, especially this song.  I don’t think they are doing anything currently because I know that Simone is the touring guitar player for Burning Witches and Emmelie is the touring bass player for Nervosa but it would be awesome if this band ever did a United States run.  Perhaps a U.S. tour with Nervosa, Crypta, and Sisters Of Suffocation??  Hey one can dream right?
