The Eagles

Up next on the chopping block is the band The Eagles. Now I definitely think that the song Hotel California is massively overplayed but other than that I haven’t heard too much of their stuff. So let’s take a look………

Eagles- I forgot that the song Witchy Woman was done by them. I’ll always think of Seinfeld when I hear this song. Now as far as the rest of the album goes, it’s a great rock album. I was actually pleasantly surprised with this one and now that I’ve heard this album, there are a few other songs that I remember but I just never figured it was these guys. Anyway, a great album and it definitely gets a 10/10

Standouts: Nightingale, Take The Devil, Chug All Night

Desperado- again another album with a song that’ll make me think of Seinfeld. This one is definitely a country western album.  I mean there is definitely no denying that. I do know that this is considered a classic but for me it’s a little too soft and like black metal, I need to be in the mood to listen to this type of music. That being said I give it 9/10

Standouts: Out Of Control, Outlaw Man, Twenty-One

On The Border- So this one goes back to a more rock sound unlike the country-rock sound that was on the last album. I still think that it has just a hint of country but overall, this is definitely a rock record. I definitely think it’s an album I could see myself revisiting again. I give this 10/10

Standouts: Is It True?, Midnight Flyer, Good Day In Hell

One Of These Nights- so this one I don’t know the vocals are different on here. Not really sure how to describe it. There is even some hint of bluegrass on here too. I think this album is good but not great. As I have said before, I don’t mind softer songs if they are done right and on here they are but as a whole, I found this album kind of boring. I mean it certainly is not better than On The Border but it is still an album worthy of your time. I give this 8.5/10

Standouts: One Of These Nights, Lyin’ Eyes, I Wish You Peace

Hotel California- ah yes here we are. The album that these guys are definitely known for (at least the title track). It seems like in almost every restaurant I’ve worked at, the dishwashers would always have the song Hotel California mixed in with their Spanish music. I don’t know why but it just seemed so random. Anyway, while I do think that song is so overplayed, you cannot deny that guitar solo. I mean it’s fire. Anyway aside from that, how’s the rest of the album? It’s great and this is one of those albums that everyone should listen to and not just the title track. I mean this is also the same album that has the song Life In The Fast Lane. I really can’t say what hasn’t been said so I’ll just say that this is one of those iconic albums and I think they played this album live before if I’m not mistaken. If they haven’t they should. Anyway this definitely gets 10/10

Standouts: Try And Love Again, Victim Of Love, Wasted Time

The Long Run- so I would imagine it would be hard to follow up an album like Hotel California but I guess this was originally going to be a double album but there weren’t enough songs. I feel like this one could’ve been fine with a few less songs. It’s a good album but not great. I give this one 8/10

Standouts: In The City, The Disco Strangler, The Greeks Don’t Want No Freaks

Long Road Out Of Eden- so this is the first album to be released in 28 years. It is also a double album. I would say it has a little bit of everything. For me, I’m not a big fan of double albums as I think they can tend to drag on and usually there is a good amount of filler and I kinda feel the same about this one. Like there are some great moments on here but overall, I wish they would’ve split this record in half. I will say though that it’s pretty good for a band that had been away for 28 years. I give this 7/10

Standouts: Busy Being Fabulous, I Don’t Want To Hear, Somebody

I guess I had heard more songs from this band than I had thought. I do remember my parents had the live album Hell Freezes Over which is a pretty good live album. I really liked their older stuff and I definitely think people who haven’t should definitely check out their other albums.
