Up next on the chopping block is another band that most people probably know them from their radio hits. They were big (or at least their songs were) in the 90’s and of course the band I am talking about is the band Papa Roach. This was another request so with that let’s take a look………….
Old Friends From Young Years- this is a very different sounding album than what we would get in the future. It’s got almost a System Of A Down meets Deftones kind of sound to it. Some of these songs almost sound like demos. I don’t know this record is kinda weird. Definitely a different sound and album and I’ll give it 8/10
Standouts: Liquid Diet, Orange Drive Palms, GrrBrr
Infest- ah yes the album that gave us that song Last Resort. Well I would think that everyone reading this would know that song but the rest of the album is actually pretty good. No not every song sounds like Last Resort but if you are a Nü Metal or rap metal fan then you would really enjoy this one. For me, rap metal isn’t really my thing but I do know that this album is considered a classic. I’ll give it a 9/10
Standouts: Broken Home, Blood Brothers, Binge
lovehatetragedy- this one is a little slower and it definitely does not have that Nü Metal sound. It’s definitely got more of a rock sound to it and while there is some elements of rap, it’s very much a rock record. I’ll give it 7/10
Standouts: M-80, Born With Nothing Die With Everything, Walking Thru Barbed Wire
Getting Away With Murder- there’s something about the way that this album sounds production wise that makes it sound I don’t know “fuller”. Not sure where to place it but this one certainly sounds more cohesive. This one doesn’t really have the rap elements that was on the last album and is going for an alternative rock sound. I’ll give it 8/10
Standouts: Done With You, Blood (Empty Promises), Blanket Of Fear
The Paramour Sessions- alright we are now fully into alternative rock at this point. Personally, this one gets boring about half way through. Overall, just an ok album. I’ll give it 6/10
Standouts: Alive
Metamorphosis- this one kind of reminds me a little bit of the Getting Away With Murder album. Like it could pick up where that one left off however, I do like this one better. It’s certainly a step up from their previous album. The songs are more cohesive and the band seems more dialed in. I’ll give this one 9/10
Standouts: Lifeline, Change Or Die, Into The Light
The Connection- the problem I have with this one is that a majority of the songs are slow. Not that this band is known for super fast or heavy songs but after a while, the album gets boring and I lose interest. To me, this one isn’t great. I’ll give it 5/10
Standouts:
F.E.A.R.- this one feels a lot like the last album. Again, a bunch of boring, slowed down songs. I mean listen to it if you please but I don’t care much for this one. I’ll give it 2/10
Standouts:
Crooked Teeth- so it looks like they did decide to have some more uptempo songs but there are some rapping elements back in the music. It’s not really my thing but I do appreciate them attempting to try something else and sort of branch out. Again nothing special going on here. I’ll give it 1/10
Standouts:
Who Do You Trust?- again more of the same. It seems like they’re sticking to the same formula here. These albums eventually all run together. I’m giving this one 0/10
Standouts:
Ego Trip- this is a weird album. Like we are into like this weird rap territory. Again I appreciate them trying to do something new but I just couldn’t get into it. I’ll give it 0/10
Standouts:
Well this was an interesting one to say the least. I almost think that this band is having an identity crisis. Like are they a rap band, pop band, rock band, or what? Now don’t get me wrong there are some pretty solid albums here but definitely their later stuff isn’t that good.
