If had you told me back when I started going to shows particularly metal shows that I would actually be buying a ticket to see an artist like Yungblud I probably wouldn’t have believed it. And on Friday, May 22, 2026, I went to see him and The Warning at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. This is my first time seeing anything at this venue so let’s take a look……….
Kicking the night off were the three sisters from Monterey Mexico, The Warning!! I have to say, this band has really had my ear these last couple of years and they are absolutely one of THE best new rock bands. I honestly can’t say enough about this band, because they really are that good. They opened with the song “More” off of their current album Keep Me Fed then went right into “S!ck” followed by “Escapism.” Right after that, singer/guitarist Dany asks the crowd “Are you ready for a new song?” and then jumped into their latest single (which is sung in Spanish) “Ego.” “Ego” shows a heavier side of this band and is really a short but sweet jam. They have their set list staples such as “Disciple” and the crowd favorite “Evolve.” Of course they also played the two other singles “Ritual” and “Kerosene” which went over extremely well with the crowd, especially “Kerosene.” The shared vocals between older sister Dany (guitar) and middle sister Pau (drums) really makes this band that much more special. All three sisters can sing really really well and on top of that they’re all fantastic players. You don’t really see that with a lot of rock bands these days and the chemistry between all three sisters really shows and makes for a great performance. Again I can’t say enough great things about this band. They really are one of my favorites and there’s a reason why they have made it to my top 5. They are definitely one of those bands that I will ALWAYS try to see live any chance I can.
Time for the main event……………Yungblud!!! Now I’m sure like many people I had really only seen him perform during the Back To The Beginning livestream. Then of course he did that re-recording of his song “Zombie” with the Smashing Pumpkins. Then it wasn’t that long ago that I put him on the Chopping Block for a review and when I first heard his music, I didn’t really quite know what to make of it. It took me a couple of listens on his earlier albums to really appreciate his music. After a quick set change, the house lights dimmed and Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” starts playing, and of course the crowd starts erupting as the different band members start walking on stage and once the man himself grabs the mic and says “are you ready Los Angeles?” it was on!! Jumping right into the song “Hello Heaven, Hello” off the new album Idols followed by “Funeral” off his self-titled album is a great one-two song punch that definitely had the crowd cheering. It’s been a really good while since I’ve seen a front man/artist move around and interact with the crowd as much as Yungblud. He really did a fantastic job of interacting with the audience by getting them to jump, sing along, and clap. At one point during the song “Fleabag,” he left the stage, climbed up to where I was seated and kept singing. I couldn’t have been more than maybe 5 feet from him and it really made the night that much more fun and exciting.
His set was comprised of a good mixture between kind of the more faster poppier and slower more ballad type songs. Of course, I knew he was going to be playing his version of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” which he did but not before taking a beer and pouring one out for Ozzy. Before he started singing the song, he told the crowd that Ozzy’s family was in attendance and said “this one’s for you Ozzy!” It really was a beautiful and emotional moment for everyone. Sadly, all good things have to come to an end but he did close out the night with (the song that I first heard) “Zombie.” I was really hoping that somebody from the Smashing Pumpkins would’ve joined him on stage, but it wasn’t really necessary. Both the original and the collaboration versions of “Zombie” are great and it was a perfect way to end the night.
The main reason for going to this show was mostly out of curiosity. I do remember asking my friend and podcast cohost Brian if I should go and I do remember him saying “you should go. You’re curious enough about him and you really dig that band The Warning” and I have to say I’m really glad that I went. Everything about this show was perfect. It’s not often that I go to a non-metal show on my own and seeing this kind of crowd does hit differently, but everybody who I interacted with was just so nice and they were all there for the same reason which was to enjoy two great bands and just let loose and have fun. I’m gonna say that this was one of the best shows I think I’ve ever been to and hearing Yungblud’s albums and seeing him on YouTube just isn’t the same as actually seeing him live. The best way I can describe his performance is the moves of Scott Weiland and Billy Idol with the charisma of Ozzy Osbourne and David Bowie. I can honestly see why Ozzy loved Yungblud so much and why so many rock musicians want to work with him. Of course having The Warning as the opener just really made for a perfect show. The combination of both these artists was just absolutely perfect and I can’t say enough great things about this show. I am so glad that I went and anybody that has the opportunity to see both of these artists absolutely needs to do so!!!
