There are just certain collaborations that are just so much fun. Such as the case of the song “Show Them” by The Warning and Band-Maid. Let’s take a look……..
There must be something about Aftershock that brings bands together. For those that are unfamiliar with Band-Maid, they are an all girl Japanese hard rock band that dress up like French maids and make heavy rock music. This all came together because both bands met each other at the 2022 edition of the festival and right away they wanted to work with each other. Demos were sent back-and-forth, followed by Zoom calls, to finally meeting when The Warning was on tour in Japan. I think what really makes this collaboration work is that everyone’s ideas were utilized and since both bands have different styles, it all works together perfectly. Now for The Warning, this doesn’t appear on any of their albums however, it is on Band-Maid’s 2024 album Epic Narratives which is a great album. The song was debuted live on June 12, 2024 at EX THEATER ROPPONGI in Tokyo during Band-Maid’s encore. I think had it not been for this collaboration, I never would’ve heard of Band-Maid (much less become a fan) which is another reason why I really like this song. You can just tell that both bands are just having a lot of fun and from the behind the scenes video on YouTube everybody enjoyed working with one another. It’s just further proof that you don’t need to speak the same language in order to make great music and this is a perfect example of that.
