Forgotten Classics: Lush

For this Forgotten Classic, we’re again, going back to the 90s. To say I’ve been bitten by the nostalgia bug is an understatement. This particular song I remember was always being played on 96.7 The Bus and he was another one that for some reason just popped into my head so with that, let’s take a look……..

Band: Lush

Album: Lovelife

Song: Ladykillers

Like with all of these  Forgotten Classics, we’re gonna hop into the Time Machine and go back to the year 1996. For me that was sixth grade, and I remember this being played on the radio quite a bit.  One of those that I wish they had played more but when they did play it, it was like oh yay they’re playing this song.  What can I say? It’s catchy and gets stuck in your head.  Personally, it sounds to me like punkier Blondie song with a dash of New Wave. The second and third verses of the song are about Anthony Kiedis and Matt Sharp (Weezer bass player).  Inspiration also came from when lead singer Miki Berenyi witnessed Kiedis mistreating groupies at a strip club and his manipulativeness.  Whatever the case may be, this is just a fun song and definitely brings me back.
