The Closer: Crypta- Lord Of Ruins

I guess it’s pretty safe to say that the band Crypta has become one of my all-time favorite bands. Considering that they’re relatively new to the scene, I think that’s pretty good.  There’s a reason why this band is in my top 10 and their second album Shades Of Sorrow proves it. For this Closer we’re gonna take a look at the song “Lord Of Ruins.”   Let’s take a look…………

I don’t want to say that the first album Echoes Of The Soul is darker than Shades Of Sorrow because both are kind of dark albums but I think one of the biggest differences between the two is that this one is a bit more on the melodic side. The song itself is about letting go past and being able to forgive oneself and moving forward.  You can even watch the music video that they made for it and connect the dots that way.  Personally, I think when Fernanda Lira (bass/voice) write her lyrics. I get the feeling they’re meant to be open for interpretation.  This is definitely one of those songs that sounds great on album and live. I think what I really like most about this band is that they are able to bring the old-school death metal sound and put a fresh spin on it. Now oddly enough there is a short instrumental track after this song called “The Closure.”
