Better Lovers is absolutely one of those bands that captured lightning in a bottle with their album Highly Irresponsible and their song “A White Horse Covered In Blood” is up for Song Pick Of The Week. Let’s take a look…..
Highly Irresponsible is such a good album and absolutely feels like the next chapter for all the members. I mean that bass line from Steve Micciche that kicks off the song is so damn good!!! Now for those who aren’t really familiar with this band, it’s made up of Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape Plan), Stephen Micche (Every Time I Die), Clayton Holyoak (Every Time I Die), Jordan Buckley (Every Time I Die), and Will Putney (Fit For An Autopsy) so the badassery is there and the song that really got me hooked was “A White Horse Covered In Blood.” The song itself is about confronting self-deception, false pride, and an inevitable emotional breakdown. When the band wrote this particular track, Will Putney told Alternative Press “We had a lot of the record in the bag by the time this song showed up. I was itching for a midtempo tune to break up some chaos, so I pulled this one out at the final hour. Goose’s drums sold the verses so well, and I love Steve’s chorus bass runs. It’s always great when you have an idea and then your bandmates elevate it even further.” Aside from this song, the whole Highly Irresponsible album kicks ass and while Greg may not be in the band anymore, I very much look forward to what this band has to offer next.
