Next on the chopping block is a band that I was fortunate enough to see open for Reba Meyers. Very rarely do I enjoy an opening band that I’ve never heard of so much so that I put them on the chopping block, but they were a lot of fun and they had a great amount of energy. They have a few different styles in their music and as I said before, they were very entertaining to watch. Plus, they were at the same sushi spot that myself and my podcast cohost were at before the show so technically we had dinner with a couple of their members. But anyway, the band on the chopping block is called Melted Bodies so with that let’s take a look……….
Enjoy Yourself- I guess the best way I can describe this album is a weirder noise Rock version of a band like System Of A Down. Like vocally, he reminds me a lot of Serj Tankian. The music is definitely chaotic and as I said it’s got some noise rock elements. It’s very interesting and different and honestly, it’s a lot of fun. I’m gonna have to give this album 8.5/10.
Standouts: 99 Scents, The Abbot Kinney Pedophiles, Ad People
Enjoy Yourself With Friends- OK so this is an interesting one because it’s a remix album. Based on the band that I’ve reviewed it’s a little unusual to have a remix album as a second album. I don’t know I’m not really a big fan of remix albums. They just don’t really do much for me and I don’t know. I just wasn’t really a fan of this one. If you are a fan of remix albums, though definitely check this out. I personally just didn’t care for it and I’m going to give it 5/10.
Standouts:
The Inevitable Fork- all right so basically this kind of picks up where the first album left off there’s a lot going on again. I do feel like this should’ve been split up into two albums because there are moments that do tend to feel a bit long. There was a couple times when I looked to see how many songs were left and was like oh wow, I still have five more to go. But aside from that, this is a really fun and interesting album and definitely worth a listen or two. Definitely check this out if you’re looking for something fun and exciting. I’m gonna go ahead and give this 8.5/10.
Standouts: Bloodlines, Liars, Splitting
Overall, this is a really fun band and I’m really excited to see what they are going to do next because as I said in my introduction, they were just so much fun live. They have this energy about them and I totally went into this, not knowing anything about them. They are also one of those bands that was the perfect opener for an artist like Reba Meyers and like I said, I would really like to see them do more shows.
