For this week’s Song Pick, we’re gonna go into black metal territory and take a look at number 88 on my top 100 list. Number 88 is the black metal band Abbath and the song is “Acid Haze” off the album Dread Reaver. I was very fortunate to see them this year in 2025 as an opener for Danzig. So with that, let’s take a look……
Black metal is one of those subgenres of metal that you really have to be in the mood for. Like it’s one of those where you wake up and are like I really wanna listen to some black metal. Now for those that are unfamiliar with Abbath, he used to be in that band Immortal and this is basically just a continuation of what he was doing. The reason why I chose the song Acid Haze is because it’s got some thrash-iness and it doesn’t sound like your typical black metal song. Definitely check this song out if you’re looking for something just slightly different and while you’re at it, give the rest of the album a listen. I really hope to see him again sooner rather than later.
