As I said, the album has a good amount of covers and I almost chose one as my pick of the week however, she has some great original songs too. The theme of “Victim Of Circumstance” is societal judgement and personal resilience. Lyrically it’s about someone constantly misunderstood and judged which reflects on Joan Jett’s personal experiences in a male-dominated rock scene. While a good chunk of the album is cover songs, her original songs are also just as good. I Love Rock And Roll is absolutely one of her best albums and songs like this prove just why that is. Definitely give this song a spin and while you’re at it, just listen to the whole album!!
