Double Feature reviews

So it’s been awhile since I’ve done a double feature review and what that is reviewing 2 random bands. Usually they only have about 2 or 3 albums which means there will be no album rankings. They are also bands you may or may not have heard of before. So here we go

Martyr AD:

The Human Condition In Twelve Fractions- ok so I remember hearing about these guys on either Fuse or MTV 2. I can’t remember. Anyway, this is a metalcore band and this particular album to me sounds like a lot of metalcore albums that came out around the early 2000’s. These guys have a kind of Most Precious Blood meets Hatebreed meets early Vision Of Disorder thing. It’s a good record so I’ll give it 8/10

Standouts: Broken Mouth, Failed Polygraph Examination, The Montreal Screwjob

On Earth As It Is In Hell- ok so right around the time I heard this album, I swear my friends band Mjölner sounded a lot like them especially the song American Hollow. Now their music isn’t on Spotify so take my word for it. I actually really like this album and I remember I played the hell out of it when I bought it. I’ll give this one 9.5/10.

Standouts: American Hollow, The Serpent And The Flower, Beneath The Plague

So that it for this part of the review. Definitely check these albums out.  I remember hearing that they went on tour with The Haunted so that would’ve been cool to see. It’s kinda too band they Kalyan had these two albums so hopefully there will be a reunion at some point but it’s been a really long time since the last album so it doesn’t look hopeful. Anyway up next on the chopping block is……..

Nails

Unsilent Death- now if you are into bands like Converge, Napalm Death, or even The Red Chord, you’ll definitely like this album. It’s raw, gritty, angry, and what some would call noise.   One thing about their albums is that they are short. I’m talking like 22 minutes short. So if you like the bands I mentioned earlier, then you may like these guys. I’ll give this 9/10

Standouts: Suffering Soul, Conform, Traitor

Abandon All Life- again more of the same here. Fast and short songs that are just angry and badass. But again nothing really new here. Some may like this more than the first album. I prefer the first. I’ll give this one 8/10

Standouts: Wide Open Wound, Pariah, Cry Wolf

You’ll Never Be One Of Us- I don’t want to say that this a deathcore record but it’s more death metal than the other two. For one thing, the vocals are a bit easier to make out but the record just feels more cohesive. Like these guys finally found a new sound. Now it’s been about 5 years since they released anything new so let’s hope they put out something soon. Anyway, I’ll give this 10/10

Standouts: You’ll Never Be One Of Us, Violence Is Forever, Made To Make You Fail

I was actually suppose to see these guys at Ozzfest in 2016 but they had to cancel so that was disappointing and I have read that they have had problems with people in the band so I hope that doesn’t mean the end of them. Anyway, if you are looking for something new and brutal then definitely check out Nails.
